Kent County Health Department
Please be aware of the following scams related to COVID-19:
SCAM: Health Department phone numbers are being spoofed in an attempt to obtain Medicaid/Medicare information. Do not provide any personal information over the phone unless you have confirmed who you are talking to. Also, if you receive a text from an unknown number, don’t click on any links, even if they are offering free testing, vaccines, or supplies. The links could download viruses onto your device.
SCAM: Criminals are impersonating Red Cross volunteers offering COVID-19 testing door-to-door. Red Cross does NOT provide COVID-19 testing. If someone comes to your residence claiming to be with Red Cross, do not open the door and notify the police immediately.
SCAM: Watch for emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or health professionals saying they have information about the virus. Be sure to visit our page frequently for the most up-to-date information about COVID-19.
These are just a few examples of scams that are circulating. As the pandemic continues, more scams are likely to occur. Please be alert and report any suspicious activity to the police.
